EP. 87
We will devote the next several episodes to discussing some of the issues raised in Anthony Esolen's brilliantly insightful book, Ten Ways To Destroy The Imagination Of Your Child (Wilmington, DE: ISI Books, 2010). You can click here to check it out.
Professor Esolen has managed to write one of the truest, saddest, and funniest books on education that I have read in a long time. His incisive analysis of play dates, "helicopter parenting," No Child Left Behind, video games, and political correctness (to name just a few) is so spot on that it forces you to laugh…or risk crying instead.
Esolen’s humorous, but elegant writing style helps the reader digest some of the book’s more tragic content, namely that the school system’s primary purpose is to standardize our children’s minds and imaginations into predictable mediocrity.
